Blockchain investigator ZachXBT has reported a major crypto theft involving a Kraken user who lost approximately $18.2 million in a suspected social engineering attack. A portion of the stolen funds—around 878 ETH—has already been bridged across chains, indicating active laundering.

The attacker used THORChain to convert assets from Ethereum to Bitcoin without requiring identity verification. This method allows stolen funds to be moved quickly and discreetly, making recovery significantly more difficult.
