Meta Pushes AI Moderation Amid Policy Shifts and Rising Scrutiny
-

Meta is doubling down on artificial intelligence for content moderation while continuing to loosen some of its platform policies. The company says human reviewers will still oversee high-risk decisions, but AI will handle repetitive and fast-evolving threats, improving response times and reducing over-enforcement across apps like Facebook and Instagram.
The move comes after major policy changes, including ending third-party fact-checking in favor of a community-driven model similar to X. At the same time, Meta faces mounting legal pressure over user safety, particularly involving younger audiences. Alongside the moderation shift, the company also introduced a 24/7 AI support assistant, now rolling out globally to help users directly within its platforms.
