The Man Who Received 10,000 Bitcoin For Two Pizzas Says He Has No Regrets
-

Jeremy “jercos” Sturdivant, the recipient of the famous Bitcoin Pizza Day transaction, confirmed he spent the 10,000 BTC on a road trip across the United States after running out of money.Back in May 2010, developer Laszlo Hanyecz paid Sturdivant 10,000 BTC for two Papa John’s pizzas — a transaction now widely recognized as the first real-world commercial use of Bitcoin.
At Bitcoin’s 2025 all-time high near $126,000, those same 10,000 BTC would have been worth over $1.26 billion.
But Sturdivant says he never viewed Bitcoin as an investment. He treated it as currency and spent it naturally as its value gradually increased.
The story continues fueling one of crypto’s oldest debates:
Was Bitcoin meant to be spent like money — or held like digital gold?
